Turning Your Focus Into Strategies

If goals are your endpoint destinations on your business journey, then strategies are the routes you take to arrive at that destination. By themselves they may not take you all the way to your destination, but they do move you toward that goal. Think of them as waypoints along the trip. So with goals defined earlier in the week, we enter into a discussion of transforming the goals in to strategies in today’s episode of 7 Minutes In the Morning! Let’s listen.

Using your goals from yesterdays Goals to Activity map, define three strategic initiatives that you can accomplish in the next 12-24 months. Remember that they must be in alignment with your long term goals and move the ball closer to achieving those goals.

Using Goals to Define Your Focus


Goals can have a way of intimidating us or motivating us… the only difference is in how we choose to react to them. Its funny actually, something we create, intended for our own benefit, is often the Mount Everest of our business life.

So how do we conquer Mount Everest? Well, I can’t give away the whole week on Tuesday! But I can move one step closer with the Goal to Activity map. Today, your action step is deceptively simple. Take a sheet of paper and draw a line right down the middle, from top to bottom. On the left side, write your goals. On the right side, make a list of all the things on your to-do list this week. Now, draw a line from every to-do item to each goal. When you’re done, circle the items that don’t support a goal AND GET RID OF THEM!
